The Story / Challenge
Continental set out to explore new business opportunities beyond its existing portfolio and needed a clear understanding of future ecosystems, market shifts, and strategic control points. With numerous initiatives already in motion, aligning activities, evaluating opportunities, and making informed Build/Buy/Partner/Join decisions required a structured approach and a shared strategic direction.
Together with fastbreak.one, Continental aimed to shape an ecosystem perspective, identify opportunity areas, prioritize initiatives, and define a roadmap and governance model to guide investment decisions and future platform plays.
The Role of fastbreak.one
fb1 supported the Continental teams with a structured 8-week ecosystem strategy process, from market analysis and interviews to strategic alignment and roadmap creation.
We introduced teams to ecosystem thinking, platform business models, and the strategic importance of value pools and control points. This foundation enabled Continental to evaluate opportunities with a unified perspective and make consistent strategic decisions.
Together, we analyzed future market trends, competitive landscapes, stakeholder needs, and innovation whitespaces. We identified the most attractive opportunity areas, defined the ecosystem vision, evaluated strategic moves, and created a clear roadmap covering governance, capabilities, required resources, and priority initiatives.
Through expert interviews, value-pool analysis, and business-model exploration, we helped Continental identify platform opportunities and assess existing initiatives for strategic fit. The result: a validated portfolio of ventures and investment options based on ecosystems, user needs, and market impact.
We outlined the required governance structure, defined the first platform MVP concepts, and built the foundations for decision-making processes that enable fast execution. With clear alignment and an integrated roadmap, Continental was equipped to initiate the first strategic projects and secure resources for venture acceleration.
